Regular Polygon Symmetry

Regular Polygon:

Any closed figure made up of several lines segments is called a polygon. Polygons made up of three, four, five and six sides are known as triangles, quadrilateral, pentagons and hexagons respectively. A polygon in which all the sides are equal and all the angles are equal is known as a regular polygon

Equilateral Triangle:

A triangles in which all the three sides are equal. Also the three angles are equal is known as an equilateral triangle. Each measure of the angle is 60^0

Symmetry of Equilateral Triangle:

It has three lines of symmetry along the three medians that is the line joining the vertex with the mid point of the opposite side.

Square:

It is a four sided figure in which the opposite pair of sides are parallel to each other. Also all the four sides are equal.and all the four angles are right angles.

Symmetry of Square:

A square has four lines of symmetry two along the line segments joining the mid points of opposite sides and two along the diagonals.

Regular Pentagon:

It is a five sided figure in which all the five sides are equal. The five angles are also equal. Each measure of the angle is 108^0.

Symmetry of a Regular Pentagon:

A regular pentagon has five lines of symmetry along the lines joining each vertex with the mid point of opposite sides.

Regular Hexagon:

It is a six sided figure in which all the six sides are equal. The six angles are also equal. Each measure of the angle is 120^0.

Symmetry of a Regular Hexagon:

A regular hexagon has six lines of symmetry. Three along the lines joining the mid points of opposite sides and three along the diagonals.
